This Breath of Life Fund has been set up in honour of Gillian Elizabeth Palmer. Sadly Gillian was taken from us on Friday 28th August 2009, after losing her battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). IPF is caused by repeated injury to small areas of the lung. This results in inflammation of the lungs and then scarring. Then the function of the lung gradually gets worse. Scars serve a good purpose in the skin - they heal injured areas. But in the lung, scar tissue stops the lung doing its job - taking oxygen from the air and passing it into the blood. It's not known what causes the condition, and as a result there is no cure. Gill was a devoted wife and mother to both Cliff and Karen. We both miss her very much and felt that this would be a fitting tribute to her. The money we can raise through this fund will hopefully be used to research IPF and maybe one day some cure can be found for this currently incurable lung disease. Thank you
